Abortion is a heavily debated topic in many cultures and societies. It is a very carefully approached subject as it deals with the women’s rights of choice and the baby’s opportunity for a life time of choices. The project ‘CHOICE’ looks at the pros and cons of the issues of abortion. But instead of siding with one side of the debate, it is designed to show two sides of the story equally. The rights of women’s choice over her body and the opportunity to give the baby lifetime of choices. This project was designed in form of a brochure, such as the ones that are handed out at hospitals to communicate and deliver information. The brochure is designed to be folded out and read from two opposite sides, each side holding information based on different sides of the debate. The aim of this project was to deliver information on pros and cons of abortion equally without taking any sides of the debate. The logo was designed with this aim in mind. The logo was designed so that it can represent both sides of the debate. And by highlighting certain parts of the logo, you can represent the side you value more. Throughout my research, I found that many brochures that hold information on abortion have many graphic images and photographs that may disturb some people. This was a problem that needed to be resolved as this could have an effect on delivering both sides of the debate equally. To resolve this, I decided to use simple illustrative representations to help deliver both sides of the debate in a fair tone and manner. This project was designed as one of my university projects in my second year 2011.
